Catherine (Pickett) Jordan

August 31, 1935 ~ July 28, 2016 (age 80) 80 Years Old

Catherine Jordan, age 80, formerly of Maple Hill, NC died July 28, 2016 at UNC Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC. She was born to the late Alonzo and Nancy Pickett. Catherine graduated from C.F. Pope High School, Burgaw, NC. She continued her education at A&T University in Greensboro, NC where she majored in Business Administration.

After college, Catherine moved to New York City where she lived in Harlem, then relocated to Brooklyn, NY. She married Ceiola Jordan on April 24, 1959. To this marriage two daughters were born, Beverly and Shana.

In 1969, Ceiola and Catherine moved from Brooklyn to Queens, NY.  Catherine was employed for 40 years at one company in which she retired as General Manager.  

She was devoted to her family, church and career.  She held the position as Mother Jordan at Sessions Tabernacle, in Richmond Hills, NY.  "Mother Jordan" as she was respectfully and fondly named was very committed to the upkeep, the vision and mission of her church.

Catherine was a woman of great faith in the Lord Jesus and was always filled with words of encouragement.  She touched so many lives.  She was humble, kind, generous and most of all, Saved, Sanctified and Filled with the Holy Ghost. Mother Jordan was a mother to many, she left and impression we will never forget.

Catherine was a long time resident of Springfield Gardens, NY.  In 2014, she relocated to North Carolina and up until her passing lived in Wake Forest, NC with her daughter Shana and son-in law Leroy.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Beverly Stockton.

Survivors include her beloved daughter, Shana Jordan-Baker and husband Leroy Baker, her grand-daughter, Jordan Stockton, her sisters Cleo James, Nicy Holmes of Maple Hill, NC; three brothers, Bishop Lacy Pickett (Annetta), Bishop Rufus Pickett and  Bishop Alonza Pickett of Maple Hill, NC.; her son-in-law James David Stockton, one sister-in-law, Alberta Jordan, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
