Mamie McNeil Obituary

Mamie Ella McNeilwas born on Tuesday, August 14, 1951 to the late John Adam McNeil and Mamie Odom McNeil. She transitioned peacefully from temporal to eternal life on Friday, March 16, 2018. At an early age Mamie accepted Christ as Savior and Lord and became a faithful member of First Baptist Church. She sang in the Senior Choir and found joy in being a vibrant and integral part of both the body of believers as well as the local community of Southport. Mamie received her education at the Brunswick County Training School (BTC). She was a member of the High School Chorus, the Drama Club (the Dramatics), the Future Homemakers of America (FHA), and the treasurer of her senior class. Mamie was a graduate of the class of 1969. Upon completion of high school she matriculated to college. Mamie embraced the community with love and the community entrusted many of its children to her care.

She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered. Mamie’s legacy lives on through a loving son, Kelvin Allen McNeil; two brothers: John Ervin McNeil (Gerigie Jacobs) of Burgaw, NC and Richard ‘Boy’ McNeil of Shallotte, NC; three ‘sisters’: Shelley Warnett of Southport, NC, Sonja Baxter of Wilmington, DE, and Roberta Young-Jackson of Richmond, VA; one aunt: Lena Ray Tobler; one nephew: Eric Murphy; cousins: Katie Beese and Ernestine Ballard of Alabama; Israel ‘Ricky’ Davis (Bridgett), Doris Davis, Eddie Davis, Nina Faye Davis, and Trina McClinton of Southport, NC; special friends: Sadie Evans and Isadora Swain.
