Pearly J. Crews, age 90, affectionately known as Bubba, “PC”, Richard and Spode Odie, succumbed on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington, NC. “PC” was born on the 21st day of August, 1927 to the late Ting Kaiser Crews, Sr. and Lena Moore Crews in Pender County, North Carolina. “PC” received his education in a one room schoolhouse; however, his formative years were shortened to assume leadership of the family farm. 

“PC” was a humble man of few words, small in stature, kind-hearted and a gentle spirit.

“PC” enjoyed the company of his dearly beloved lifelong brothers, Leroy Shiver, Sr. and  Rudolph Shiver, Sr.  They spent hours reminiscing over their lives or quietly taking a nap while one watching the other.  His devoted and dedicated lifelong friend, George Brown , preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his memories, four daughters: Janice B. Hand (William) Burgaw, NC, Patricia Bordeaux, Brooklyn, NY; Senobia Bordeaux, Rocky Point NC; Shelia Bordeaux, Cary, NC; God’s appointed daughter, Vanessa Nixon Lewis, Burgaw, NC ; five grandsons: William Hand Jr., Dewarren Hand, Vichon Bordeaux, Christopher Lewis, Freddie Lewis; great-grands, Naquane Jacobs, Leah Harris, Kishawna Jacobs, Dewarren Isaiah Hand, and Alexa Nicole Hand; beloved and devoted sister, Elizabeth Crews, of the home; brother-in-law, Horace Armstrong; sister-in-law, Colene Parker; oldest surviving niece, Inez Harrison; nieces, Carolyn Odom, Annie Crews, Belinda Harrison, Laura Mitchell, and Joan Malloy; nephews, Leon Crews, James Crews, David Crews and Larry Brown;
