On Saturday morning, December 2, 2017, God sent his Angels to bring his child “Ray” home. Cornelius “Ray” Bannerman was the first child born to the late Roy Lee Carr and the late Mary Ann Bannerman on August 25, 1965, in Pender County. Cornelius, who was known to all as “Ray”, accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. “Ray” was educated in Pender County Public School System. Upon completion of High School, “Ray” enrolled in Job Corp for a period of 2 years. “Ray” had a lengthy career at State Port Authority in Wilmington, NC. “Ray” was a loving, strong willed, and over protective father, brother and friend. “Ray” was energetic, supportive, hilarious, outspoken, and very socialable. “Ray” loved life, often you would see him standing off quietly with always a joke for you. ”Ray” never met a stranger and was loved by all. He was family oriented, and when it came to family, whenever they called, he was always there. He will be greatly missed by all. “Ray” was preceded in death by his Father: Roy Lee Carr and Mother: Mary Ann Bannerman.
