LeVerne “Shorty” was educated in the Duplin County Public Schools System. He furthered his education and attended Coastal Carolina Community College and obtained his CDL license. He drove trucks for twenty five plus years and his last work assignment was with Carolina Transport, Burgaw, North Carolina. His church affiliations were at First Baptist Teachey where he served as a Trustee. He loved singing on the choir and being a servant of the Lord. He loved his church and everyone that entered the doors felt the love of God through him. Although there is bereavement and sadness, all that knew him are consoled by joyous memories. He portrayed humor and sunshine to all who came in contact with him along with his jovial yet liberal tongue. His passing leaves a very lonely place in our hearts, but to have known one so helpful, so loving, so joyous, so understanding, so wise, so human in his weaknesses and in strength is blessing enough for any family or friend.
LeVerne leaves to cherish his precious memories: Mother: Hattie Jones, Daughters: Tawanda, April , Adrianna, and Dhani Sons: James and Malcom (Shanika) Grandchildren: Khila, Zaniya, Kyndall, Ja’Corey, Tyran, Jayden, Sanaa, Kylie, Zaria, and Dylan Sisters: Shirley (Nathaniel), Lila (James), Julia (Gerard), Rosezetta (Craig), Valeria (Alfred), and Kanisha (Omar) Brothers: Glendale and Frank (Tina) A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends.
