Alice "Pooh" James

Alice Shante’ “Pooh” James, 46, of Teachey, NC, entered her heavenly home on November 6, 2025. Born November 22, 1978, to the late Willie James Sr. and Joyce Smith, Pooh was a woman of faith, love, and quiet strength.

She leaves behind her children, Jukeema James (Rel Tatum), Kemonia White, and Keonis White, two precious grandchildren, Gabrielle Sykes and Kareem Tatum, her siblings, Pastor Elder Willie Douglas Jr. (Cathfeen) James, Georgetta Smith, LaShonda James, and Charmaine (Arthur Jr.) Clay, and a host of nieces, nephews, and loved ones who will forever cherish her laughter and her favorite phrase, “YOU HEAR ME?”

A devoted caregiver, Pooh’s kindness and compassion reflected the love of Jesus in all she did. Though her voice is silent, her spirit lives on in every heart she touched. “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” – 2 Corinthians 5:8 (KJV)
