Catherline Wright Murphy Newkirk entered eternal rest on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at the Brian Center, Wallace, NC. Born in Pender County on July 19, 1945, she was second to the youngest of 11 children born to the late Wille Wright Sr. and Beulah Wright. She was predeceased by two sisters, Beulah Mae Robinson and Hattie Wright; six brothers, Frank, Dan, James, Lewis, Major, and Roscoe Wright; 2 special cousins, Robert “Edward” and Tom Smith; 3 sisters-in-law; 1 brother-in-law; and generations of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a host of cousins.
Catherline was educated in the Burgaw Public School system graduating from C.F. Pope High, class of 1963. At the time of her death, she resided in Rose Hill, NC. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a former member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, Burgaw and later united with Keathern Missionary Baptist Church in Harrells. Left to cherish Catherline’s memories are 2 daughters, Natherlene “Sister” Murphy and Deanna “Dee-Dee” Robinson of Jacksonville, NC; 2 sons, Daniel Murphy and Nathaniel “Buddy” Murphy of NC; 3 brothers, Willie Wright, Jr (Catherine) of Raleigh, NC and Emmitt Wright of Portsmouth, VA; Willie Lee Scott of Burgaw; sister-in-law, Ardell Simpson White of Suffolk, VA; 20+ grandchildren, great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
At Catherline’s request, no funeral or memorial service will be held.
