Chaney Dawson

We are saddened to announce the passing of Mrs. Chaney Dawson, born April 7, 1930, who fell asleep in death on January 1, 2026, at Kenansville Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center.

Chaney was a devoted wife to Bertis Dawson II and a loving mother to Carol Dawson, Stanley Dawson, Bertis Dawson III, and Vivian Greene. She was also a cherished grandmother to Tanisha Barrett, Iva Nixon, Vivian Nixon, Keesha Nixon, Tabitha Fowler (Robert Fowler), Ivy Gray, Courtney Salter (James Salter), and Deandre Dawson (Tania Miller), and was further blessed with a host of great and great great grandchildren.

She was a faithful Jehovah’s Witness who dedicated her life to helping others learn about the Bible and to sharing the hope found in God’s Word. Chaney also found joy in working in her yard, tending to her home, and expressing herself through fashion.

She will be remembered for her faith, kindness, and devotion to her family and to Jehovah.

In keeping with her wishes, no funeral or memorial service will be held.

The family sincerely appreciates the love, prayers, and support shown during this time and extends special thanks to Hilton Murray, Doris Saunders and Valerie Sutton, as well as all those who visited and assisted with her care.
