Crasandra Cherry Lloyd was born on March 15, 1950 in Baltimore, MD. She was the third child of the late Robert “Monkey” and Isabelle “Sis” Cherry. She entered into eternal rest on Thursday, October 29, 2020.
“Sandy”, as she was affectionately called, began her young life in the Friendship community of Rocky Point, NC. She was educated in the Pender County public school system and left home after High School. Sandy married the late David Lee Lloyd of Currie, NC, and relocated to Washington, DC. There she worked various jobs, but her interest in Martial Arts was at the top of her list. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree and became a Black Belt. In addition to that, she began to teach classes to help others learn the skill.
"Sandy" returned to Rocky Point, NC in her later years to be closer to her father. She was employed for many years in Wilmington, NC as a CNA, a manager, and a store clerk. She loved thrift store shopping, decorating, and going out to eat.
"Sandy" gave her life to Christ and joined St. Paul AME Church in Rocky Point, NC under the leadership of Rev. Cassandra Maultsby. She was faithful in her attendance until she became ill. Sandy was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be forever in our hearts and greatly missed. In addition to her parents, Sandy was also preceded in death by her sisters: Ernestine Finwick of Columbia, MD; Carolyn Johnson of Wilmington, NC and Janice Newkirk of Burgaw, NC.
“Sandy” leaves to cherish her loving memories: Five Children: Mary Cherry Ellison (Rodney) of Wilmington, NC James David Lloyd of Rockhill, SC, Tony Lloyd of Currie, NC, Bruce Lee Lloyd of Wilmington, NC, Traneeta Lloyd of Wilmington, NC. Eight Grandchildren: Eight Great-Grandchildren: Three Brothers: Roy Smith of Wilmington, NC Robert Cherry, Jr. of New York Roscoe Cherry of Burgaw, NC. One Special Nephew: Roscoe Cherry, Jr. (Letta) of Burgaw, NC. One Special Lifetime Friend: Carolyn “Tilly” McCall Jacobs of Rocky Point, NC. A host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
