David Stephen Lee was born on March 23, 1950, to the late Mildred Watkins Lee and the late Isaac Lee in Maple Hill, NC. The late Thomas Shepard was his biological father. He peacefully transitioned on August 9, 2021 in Chesapeake, VA with family by his side.
"Frog" as he was affectionately called, received his formal education in Pender County. In 1968, he enlisted in the United States Navy. While serving his country, he also trained as a boxer, a sport near and dear to his heart. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1970.
In 1977, David met and married Jacqueline Satterwhite.
David later moved to Philadelphia, PA and served as Sheriff until his term expired and later relocated to his hometown, Maple Hill, NC. He worked as a Sheriff’s Deputy in Burgaw, NC and then begin a trucking career. He served faithfully in his community as a leader in the BTU and the Boy Scouts. He was loved by the youth in the community as he shared his admiration of motorcycles, racing cars, especially his corvettes and fishing.
As David aged, he enjoyed his music and peace and quiet. In 2019 he moved to Chesapeake, Virginia to receive additional support from his family, while his health continued to decline.
He is preceded in death by his parents and son, David Lee, Jr. and wife Jacqueline.
David leaves to cherish his memories, his children: Stephanie Lee, Anthony Marshburn, Mary Mahoney-Riggins (and son-in-law, James Riggins), Iena Rodriguez (and son-in-law Ulysses Rodriguez); his grandchildren: Demikos Rochelle, Shenika Lee, Krystopher Rainey, Amir Gainey, Keyon Sincere, Ulysses Rodriguez, Laylani Rodriguez: his great-grandchildren: Saniyah Monae, Akkash Sekhem Rainey; his siblings: James C. Lee (wife, Diane Lee), Patricia Shepard, Linda K. Lisane (husband, Kenneth Lisane), Jennifer Parker (husband) John Parker, Isaac N. Lee and Thomas Shepard.
