Diana “Diane” Kenan was born on December 7, 1948, in Wilmington, North Carolina, to Joseph and Bertha Grady. She passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.
Known for her compassion, generosity, and unwavering devotion to family, Diane will be deeply missed. Cherishing her memory are her children, Rodney Kenan of Greensboro, NC, and Tameka Kenan‑Norman (Raheen) of Greenville, NC; grandchildren Jabril Kenan of Austin, TX, and Darren Norman of Greenville, NC; great‑grandchild Umi Kenan of Austin, TX; sisters Beverly Grady and Rosalind Simpson of Castle Hayne, NC; aunt Loretta Grady of Castle Hayne, NC; uncle Oliver Barge of Bridgeport, Connecticut; special cousins George Grady of Castle Hayne, NC and Edythe Brown of Chinquapin, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Diane was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Kenan; her parents, Joseph and Bertha Grady; brothers Bobby Grady, Kenny Grady, and Bobby Lee Lawrence; and sisters Shirley Hackette and Lucille Johnson. Diane's graveside service will be held Saturday, April 25, at noon in the Kenan Family Cemetery, located at 219 Old Field Rd in Chinquapin, NC. A repast will take place immediately following the service at Linzzie's Event Center, 120 NE Railroad St., Wallace.
