Doretha Pauline Armstrong Brown, daughter of the late Thomas J. Armstrong and Ella Wade Williams Armstrong, was born July 11, 1944, in New Hanover County, Wilmington, North Carolina. She entered into eternal rest on Friday, May 29, 2020 at Cypress Point Rehabilitation Center. Doretha was born a special needs child and grew up as a special needs person. She was employed once as a toy assembler in her younger years for a short time. Doretha was in the Class of 1965. Doretha was married to the late Nathaniel Brown, she was a housewife and devoted mother to her only child Thomas Armstrong, Jr. III, of Shallotte Group home. Doretha was a member of Full Gospel Church in Burgaw, North Carolina where Reverend Devone Hankins was her Pastor. Doretha loved crocheting, cross stitching, painting by numbers and playing bingo at Cypress Point In addition to her parents, Doretha was also preceded in death by her Siblings: Ollie Bell Johnson, Loretta Armstrong, Donald Armstrong, Alfred Armstrong, Timmy Armstrong, Mitchell Armstrong, and Bobby Armstrong.

Doretha leaves to cherish her memories: One Son: Thomas Armstrong, Jr. III, of Shallotte Group Home. Three Sisters: Ruth Ann Armstrong, Alene Carr, and Gertude Armstrong. One Brother: TJ Armstrong (Anita) A Very Loving & Special Niece: Evangelene Carr Bannerman. One Great Loving Aunt: Colene Parker. One Loving Sister-In-Law: Margie Armstrong (Wife of Bobby Armstrong). A Host of: Loving nieces, nephews, caring friends, and people that were so kind to her.
