Dwayne Bland was born on August 17, 1961 to the late Rosenia Bland and Milton Douglas Stroud in Philadelphia, PA. Sometimes it takes a village to raise a child and that is exactly what Dwayne had. Dwayne was raised by his very special and loving grandparents the late Mr. Allie and Mrs. Otha Lee Bland in Willard, North Carolina.
Dwayne was always surrounded by a host of family, friends, and lots of love. He attended and graduated from Pender High School. Even though Dwayne was a quiet guy he could always light up a room with his smile. Dwayne was passionate about cars and could be found racing his beloved, sharp, red Camaro up and down the road.
Dwayne was employed as a truck driver, specializing in pallet transport. He also proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves. Suddenly, a disabling car accident ended his military and civilian career. Dwayne married Rosa Lee (Swenson) Bland who preceded him in death.
During his final months of life, Dwayne found comfort and joy in regularly talking to his sister Monica about Gods promises of a promised paradise earth that is soon to come where "death will be no more...nor pain anymore. The former things have passed away." Revelation 21:3-4. His sister Donna Michele constantly comforted him with words from Psalms. Until we meet again, John 5:28.
