Emma (Walker) Swinson

Emma Walker Swinson was born in New Hanover County on February 7, 1925, to the late Albert and Lenora Walker.

On Tuesday, February 7, 2023, on her 98th birthday, God stretched His hand and called Emma home saying, “Come My Child You Have Done Enough”. Emma passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family.

Emma was raised and attended school in Pender County. She would often work on the farm with her father during the summer.

Emma later married the late Albert Swinson and together they reared 10 children. She was preceded in death by four sons, Albert Swinson Jr., Lofton Swinson “Hasib Muqsit”, Paul Swinson and Tommy Swinson; one daughter: Rosa Lee Swinson.

Emma was a care giver and would always go out of her way to take care of others in need. She was a strong woman, with a great sense of humor. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, quilting, and spending time with her family and friends, reminiscing and joking around which made her a great storyteller.

Emma was the oldest living member of the Walker clan and the Park Community. She was a pillar of our Community and the glue that held her family together. She will be forever loved and missed.
