Ernest DeVane Obituary

Ernest Clanton DeVane (Jr.) , the eldest child of the late Earnest and Hattie Powers DeVane , was born on January 8, 1947 in Wilmington, North Carolina. Ernest was educated in the Sampson County School System attending Bland Elementary and Clear Run High School. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in History from Fayetteville State University. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.

Ernest was proceeded in death by his parents, his sister Pamela DeVane, and his niece Rene Thorton. Ernest leaves behind his wife, Gwendolyn Murphy DeVane of Magnolia, NC, along with their son, Ernest Tyrone DeVane III and his wife, ClarLynda Williams- DeVane as well as their two children Ernest Tylin DeVane, IV and Edward Tyler DeVane of Garner, NC. His siblings include sisters: Brenda D. Spearman (Ben) of Garner, NC; Glenda Bowens of Wallace, NC; Sandra DeVane (Stanley) of Ivanhoe, NC; and Cynthia Ratliff of Wallace, NC , one brother Eric DeVane (Ivanhoe) and one sister cousin Paulette DeVane of Plainfield New Jersey. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close family friends.
