Evangelist Bessie (Melvin) Newkirk

Evangelist Bessie Ruth (Melvin) Newkirk was born on April 30, 1936, in Duplin County, N.C. to the late Cero Melvin and Ruby Melvin. She transitioned peacefully from this life on December 9, 2023, while surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Bessie was a dedicated servant of the Lord and a true Evangelist who didn’t take her calling lightly. Known by many throughout the community as a true Prayer Warrior, many sought her assistance in their time of distress and when they needed to get a prayer through to the Lord. She embodied, cherished, and took pride in her role as an Evangelist, leaving a true legacy and example of what it means to stand fast in the name of the Lord.
