Evelyn Marie Alderman

Evelyn Marie Alderman was born October 28, 1966 to Wanda Alderman. “Peaches” as family and friends fondly called her, spent her early years in Wallace and Warsaw, where she attended Douglas Elementary and James Kenan High School.

At age 16 she moved with her mother to Sunnyvale, CA, where she continued her secondary education at Fremont High School, excelling in her classes and displaying her zeal for sport as a cheerleader. Her thirst for learning not yet quenched, Evelyn gained her post-secondary education at DeAnza College at Cupertino, CA, earning a Certified Nursing Assistant degree.

After graduating, Evelyn devoted her life to one of service to others. She was a caregiver and for the past three decades her vocation at Starlight Caregivers Inc. became one of attending to the affirmed, nursing the sick back to health, assuring the lonely that they are not alone, giving hope to the hopeless, and assuring those whose days are short that there is a better place.

For this often-uncelebrated trench work, Evelyn received many commendations of merit throughout the years, the last coming just a month before God called her home. In awarding her Employee of the Month, her employer, noting that Evelyn received the honor among many employees, wrote: “Evelyn has proven her commitment in care to all clients. Evelyn is reliable to report medication changes and takes lead when introduced to new clients. She is warm, welcoming and engaging…We greatly appreciated your service.”

In addition to work, Evelyn devoted herself to Christian discipleship, regularly attending Abundant Life Church in Mountain View, CA.

Evelyn leaves to share her precious memories her mother, Wanda Alderman of Durham, NC; a sister, Teresa Turner of Austell, GA; an aunt, Sandra Alderman of Durham, NC; two uncles, Dana Alderman of Raleigh, NC and Donald Alderman of Durham, NC; many cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
