Frederick Elehu White was born in Jacksonville, NC, to the late George and Lillian White. Known as Fred or Freddie, he graduated from Georgetown High School in 1949. On May 26, 1956, he married the late Geraldine Delores Legette.
Fred was ordained as a Deacon in August 1965 and was a charter member of J. T. Kerr Memorial Baptist Church in Jacksonville, NC, where he served as chairman of the deacons and held various other positions. A man of great generosity, Fred dedicated his life to service through numerous organizations. He was a Mount Horeb Lodge #73 member, Lewis-Mingo Consistory #316, Arabian Temple #42, and served on the Onslow County Hospital Authority from 1981 to 1990.
Fred was preceded in death by his wife, son Llewellyn Elehu White, and daughter Delores Esther Whiteside. His siblings who also preceded him in death include Thelma Davis, Helena Holly, Leontine Lampkin, William White Sr., Walter White, and George White Jr.
To cherish his beautiful and loving memories and continue the legacy he has left behind his daughters Fredda White of Springfield, VA, and Renita White of Jacksonville, NC; a beloved niece he raised during her formative years, Theresa White of Woodbridge, VA; two brothers, Richard White (Barbara) of Des Moines, IA, and Gordon White of Chicago, IL; one sister, Barbara White of Gary, IN; six grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
