Herbert Lee Wilson, 79, affectionately known by many as George or lovingly known as Baby Doula, peacefully departed this life and entered into eternal rest on June 11, 2026. He was a hardworking man who spent much of his life behind the wheel as a truck driver, providing for his family and serving others in his own unique way.
Born and raised in Willard, North Carolina, he was known throughout his life for his strong work ethic and willingness to help anyone he encountered. He spent much of his time traveling the roads, forming friendships wherever he went, and was always looking for someone he could help, a conversation he could have, or a friend he could encourage.
In his adult life, Herbert started his family in New York City. Later, realizing he enjoyed the simple life, he moved back to his home in North Carolina. His passion was gathering with family, playing cards with friends, and sharing stories and laughter around the card table.
While his life journey was not without challenges, his testimony was one of God's grace, redemption, and deliverance. He often spoke of the many lessons life had taught him, and continued pressing forward through life's ups and downs. His legacy of perseverance, generosity, laughter, and faith will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
