James Herring Obituary

On August 12, 2022, Mr. James Edward Herring transitioned from his earthy home to his eternal home. He was born September 14, 1940, to the late Reverend Charles James Herring and the late Jannie Bannerman.

“Buddy” as he was affectionately called, served in the Army during the Vietnam War, where he reached the rank of Staff Sergeant and received the following accommodations:  Vietnam Service Medal  Two Bronze Service Stars  Vietnam Campaign Medal with Six-Overseas Bars  Vietnam Cross of Gallantry  Army Commendation Medal  National Defense Service Medal He was instrumental in saving his platoon during the Vietnam War. After an honorable discharge from the Army,

Buddy became a long-distance truck driver for multiple moving companies, He drove for two moving companies for over ten years without a single accident and received numerous services awards. Buddy was a jack of all trades seeking out myriad of entrepreneurship opportunities. Buddy was a charitable and hospitable man with an infectious smile that warms the heart of others. In addition to his parents, Buddy was also preceded in death by one son: Christopher Leon Herring.

Buddy leaves his legacy and memories to be cherished by: Two Children: Priscilla Ann Mock of Greensboro, NC, Taura Lorraine Davis of Wallace NC, Three Sisters: Exie Caldonia Carr of Burgaw, NC, Joyce Louise Bordeaux of Wallace, NC, Brenda Kaye McKnight (Barron) of Four Oaks, NC, Nine Grandchildren: Christopher Herring II, Marquita Marshburn, Domenique Ballard, Edward Ballard, Christasha Ballard, Brandon Herring, Kristen Herring, Tyra Marshburn, Aundral Marshburn, Great-Grandchildren: Twenty, Nieces: Eight, Nephews: Four, One Special Nephew: Ronald (Boo) Bordeaux AND A Host of: other relatives and friends who loved and will miss him dearly.
