Jerry Lee Nixon, was the first born son(out of 13 children) to the late Carrie Lee Nixon and Asa Nixon. He was a naturally gifted and inquisitive child born on January 29, 1933 in the Long Creek Community, Rocky Point, North Carolina. Jerry transitioned Monday, November 21, 2016 at Virginia Hospital, Arlington, Virginia.

He received his education at Pender County Training School, Rocky Point, North Carolina. At an early age, Jerry professed a hope and belief in Christ and attended St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Rocky Point, North Carolina. Upon leaving the Long Creek Community and arriving in New York City, he learned a seamstress trade, (apprentice-in clothing, upholstery, drapes, etc.) and retired from the Garment District. Jerry also worked at New York City Technical College, Brooklyn, New York, for 35 years and retired.

During this time, he met and married the late Sally Walker-Nixon and to this union three wonderful children were born, Sandra Nixon, Kevin Nixon and the late Alan Louis Nixon. Jerry traveled and enjoyed life to the fullest and will be missed by numerous people whose life he has touched and enriched. In addition to his parents, wife, and son Alan, Jerry was also preceded in death by Three Sisters: Velma Nixon and two infants, and Two Brothers: Maxie Nixon and James Asa Nixon.
