John Coston Obituary

John David Coston, Jr. was born on February 3, 1955 to Queen Gore Coston and the Late John D. Coston, Sr. He peacefully answered the Master’s call on Sunday, December 19, 2021. “Nookie” as he was affectionately called during his childhood was also known as Moonshine (CB) and Sticky. At an early age, “Nookie” joined Watha Chapel Baptist Church. He received his education in Pender County Public Schools and graduated from Penderlea High School. Upon graduation, “Nookie” moved to Emporia, Virginia to begin a career driving trucks. “Nookie went from the tractor to the truck. Driving trucks was Nookie’s passion. He drove trucks unto death. In “Nookie’s” spare time, he was a sunny shade mechanic that was always ready to give a helping hand and a smile with a pleasant conversation. Nookie said he was “the detail man in town.” He wore many hats and had a positive impact on the life of so many people. He was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all.
