All things come home at eventide, and so it was with our loved one who was called home on Wednesday, May 3, 2020, in Wilmington, N.C. at New Hanover Memorial Hospital. Leonard “Tom Cat” Pickett was born May 11, 1959, at Pender Memorial Hospital to Leonze Pickett and Ruthie Pickett McKoy. He was the fourth child and became affectionately known as “Tom Cat”. He was always fun to be around and was a mama’s boy. Leonard attended Pender High School as a child and later began working in Apex, N.C. doing construction and later moved with Brown and Root Construction to Texas where he worked many years.
Leonard loved working outside and with his hands. He loved to restore things and if he loved you, he just loved you. He had a beautiful smile and an infectious laugh which will truly be missed, but God has restored and reclaimed him as his own.
When there are lines upon my face from a lifetime of smiles, When the time comes to embrace for one long last while, We can laugh about how time really flies, We won't say goodbye because true love never dies.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories. Mother: Ruthie McKoy. Special Friend: Naomi Hayes Special Daughter: Stephanie Watkins. Brothers: Larry Pickett, Micheal Stanley Pickett (Trina), James Miller (Priscilla), Roger Miller. Sisters: Betty Jean Pickett, Carleen Trosclair (Luke). Aunts: Naomi Watkins (Archie), Nancy Moore (Arnold), Vernell Richardson. Uncles: Freddie Lee and Maurice Pickett. A host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Special Friends.
