Obituary

Mrs. Lula Merritt Rogers transitioned peacefully at home in Rose Hill, NC on Monday, February 7, 2022. She was born on May 7, 1931 in Taylor's Bridge township in Sampson County, NC to Leola Merritt and Oscar Alderman.

She attended school in Sampson and Wayne Counties. She married George Rogers, of Parkersburg, NC in 1949. They moved to Rose Hill, NC and raised 6 children.

She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Rose Hill, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, St. Phillip Lodge NO 89. She loved gardening (flowers) and cooking. She loved kids - her advocation. Mrs. Rogers worked as a teacher's assistant with the Duplin County Head Start for many years.

She leaves many cherished memories to daughters; Linda Johnson, Newport News, VA; Teresa Fulks (Glenn), Hampton, VA; Laverne Rogers, Rose Hill, NC; Sons; Dallas Rogers (Thelma), Brooklyn, NY; Johnny Rogers, High Point, NC; and Douglas Rogers, Newport News, VA; A special nephew, like a son, Ronnie Rogers of Rocky Mount, NC; 9 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren., and a host of other relatives and friends that loved her dearly.
