Maria Lettinhand

Maria Lettinhand was born on December 11th, 1967 in The Bronx New York to Valentine (Val) Garcia and Felix Sabatar. She attended South Bronx High School where she graduated in 1984.

Maria loved to dance (especially Salsa and Disco) , cook and sew. She, also, loved to travel especially to Myrtle Beach South Carolina to attend the annual “Bike Feast”. She used to talk about attending it all year with family and friends. She also loved to go fishing. In 2000, she needed a change and moved from the Bronx to Willard North Carolina with her three children Shaniqua, Robert, and Daniel. In Burgaw she worked for the Pender County School System. In the last years of her life, she worked in the health care profession. Maria loved people and made countless friends at Pender and in the health care. Marie could accomplish anything she set her mind to do. She was an accomplished writer and artist. Maria thought the world of her kids and grandkids. They were her heart. She would do anything for them. She would light up when her grandkids came to see her. Maria, also, played a big part in the lives of many children.

Maria is survived by her husband, Anthony Lettinhand,  mother Valentina Garcia, father Felix Sabatar, grandfather Eduardo Nieves, sister Mia Casneda, brother Julio Perez, daughter Shaniqua, sons Robert and Daniel, Lorenzo Bonilla (who was like a son to her), grandchildren Kali, Kalen, and Djimon, her aunts Yolanda Nieves, Maria Valentin, and Rosa Valentin, Uncles Eduardo Nieves, Angle Nieves, and Tivo Nieves, her nieces Angie Nieves, Eva Casneda, Elizabell Casneda, Alina Casneda, her nephew Ito Nieves, and a host of extended family and friends. She also had two special friends who were like sisters to her Wilda (Genie) Chisholm and Cynthia Behale.
