Maurice "Creeper" Murphy

Maurice Murphy, was born on February 3, 1967, to Pastor Corine Carr and the late Morris Murphy. He peacefully transitioned from earthly labors to heavenly rewards on April 28, 2022 at  Novant Health Medical Center, Wilmington NC. He was preceded in death by two brothers Norris and James, and Step-father Harry Carr.

Maurice joined St. Mary United Holy Church early in life. He also became a watch care member at Christ Outreach Ministry where he would help do maintenance work.

Maurice aka “CREEPER”, attended Pender High School graduating in 1985. He had a love for racing and working on cars.  While he attended auto mechanic classes at Pender High School he went on to further his education at UTI, NASCAR TECHNICAL INSTITUTE in Charlotte NC. Maurice also attended Miller –Motte where he trained to be a truck driver. He drove long distance trucks for many years. He worked for the NC Transportation Maintenance Dept in Pender County for 17 years driving trucks. He enjoyed working and driving trucks until 2018 when an accident with a logging truck caused injuries.

Maurice was raised in two households. He had such a love for the late Uncle Ezra and Aunt Mildred Murphy that he made Tuckahoe his second home. With open arms Maurice became one of their pride and joy that they raised. His jokes and presence anywhere always created a pleasant atmosphere. He will be missed by everyone that knew “CREEPER”

He leaves to cherish his memories:  Daughter: Briana Kelly, Mother: Pastor Corine Carr, Siblings: Alexander Murphy, Alisa (Don) Copeland, Leon Carr, Nieces: Valery, Demetus (Tony), Mary, Antionette, Seanette, Great-Nephews: Trayvone, Javonte, Tyrease, Tayquan, Chase, Bryon, Nasir and Braylon, Great-Niece: Makayla, 7 Aunts, 5 Uncles and a host of other family members and friends. Special Friends: Cynthia, Ulysses, Tyrone, Steve, Mr and Mrs Lonnie, Al, Frost, A/B Grill, Sonny’s, Currie, Tuckahoe communities.
