Michael Maurice McCarty was born to the late Booker T. and the late Nina McCarty on March 27, 1946, in Akron, Ohio. He peacefully answered the Master's call on July 9, 2022.
He received his education in the Summit County Public School system in Akron, Ohio. Michael later served his country in the United States Marine Corps. As a Vietnam Veteran, he received several medals, including a purple heart.
While serving his country, he met and married his beloved wife Lula Frances McCarty, whom he affectionately called “Frances.”
Michael was a true patriot. He loved nature and being outside. Michael was a talented and professional outdoor photographer as well as a gifted artist.
In addition to his parents, Michael was also preceded in death by three brothers: James “Jimbo” McCarty, Charles “Chucky” McCarty, and Albert “Wimpy” McCarty; one son Michael Maurice McCarty, Jr.
Michael leaves to cherish his precious memories and legacy to his: Devoted Wife: Lula Frances McCarty. Six Children: Michael E. Battiest, Denise L. (Lamont) McCarty-Poole, William E. Johnson, Emmanuel I. Smith, Michael M. Smith and Christina L. Smith. One Sister: Parthina Johnson. One Special Niece and Special Nephew: James McCarty and Darryl Johnson. Eleven Grandchildren: Steven J. McCarty, William M. McCarty, Keyonte’ C. Y. Poole, Hezekiah L. Poole, Jaden L. Poole, Davon L. Poole, Dymetris L. Poole, Davy L. Poole, Jr., Dy’Mon L. Poole; William E. Johnson, Jr. and Ricky Armstrong. Two Great-Grandchildren: William M. McCarty, Jr. and JaVontae’ J.M. McCarty. Two Aunts: Ola Cheatham and Viola Hand. Two Brothers-in-law: James Shepard and Douglas “Bug” (Marilyn) Shepard. One Sister-in-law: Brenda (Dennis) Taylor. A Special Caregiver: James “Dill” Shepard and a Host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
