Paul David Horne was born on March 31, 1949, to the late Mangle and Annie Ruth King Horne in Duplin County. He departed this life of Thursday, July 9, 2020. Paul was educated in the Duplin County Public School System. He was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corp. Paul was a very proud Marine and served his country well during the Vietnam Conflict. He also achieved the rank of Corporal. During his tenure in the Marines Paul achieved many medals of honor such as The National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/2 Stars; Vietnam Campaign Medal w/device; Bronze Star w/”V” device; Vietnam Gallantry Cross Medal w/ Palm; Navy Achievement Medal w/ “V”; and Good Conduct Medal. Paul worked a long time at Stevco Knit in Wallace, NC as well as a lengthy time at Brooks Gravel and Sand in Wallace, NC.
He was a quiet and easy-going person who would help anyone he could. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all. In addition to his parents, Paul was also preceded in death by One Son: Dennis Lee Horne; Three Sisters: Pearl Horne, Annie Dixon, and Aldean Turman.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories, three sons: Bobby Lee McKenzie (Keesha) of Wallace, NC, Paul Horne Jr. of Maryland, and Ronald Jermaine Horne (special friend) Stephanie Parker of Burgaw, NC. One daughter, Jacqueline Mechelle Graham of Burgaw, NC. Four brothers: Mangle Horne Jr. of Wallace, NC, Clarence Horne of Teachey, NC, Willie Horne of Teachey, NC, and David Carter (Mary) of Wallace, NC. Two Sisters: Mary Plummer (Robert) of Teachey, NC and Dorothy Horne of Teachey, NC. A host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
