Roosevelt "Chubby" Boney III

Roosevelt Boney III, affectionately known as Chubby, passed away on June 3, 2026.
He was born on December 4, 1968, in Duplin County, to the late Roosevelt Boney Jr.
and Mary Elizabeth Boney.

He attended the Duplin County Schools. He developed an entrepreneurial spirit at an
early age. He always had a way of connecting with people that came naturally to him.
Chubby was the kind of guy who did not need a spotlight to be memorable, because his
humor and warmth had a way of finding the spotlight all on their own. He understood
that life could be serious, but he also knew that a little laughter could help carry a
person through just about anything. That gift made him special, and it made him easy to
love.

Roosevelt spent some years employed by House of Raeford, where he worked faithfully
until his health failed. He was the kind of worker who understood the value of showing
up, doing his part, and keeping things moving. His time there reflected the same steady
spirit he carried throughout his life. Even when the days were long, he had a way of
making people around him feel at ease. He brought not only effort to his work, but also
personality, and that combination is one that people do not forget. If laughter were
medicine, Roosevelt probably qualified as a full-service pharmacy.

He found joy in the simple things that made life rich. He enjoyed music, eating, and
hanging with family and friends, which was a pretty solid recipe for a good time. Music
gave him rhythm, food gave him fuel, and family and friends gave him the kind of
happiness that cannot be measured on any scale. He knew how to enjoy a meal, enjoy
a song, and enjoy a good conversation, and he did all three with the kind of enthusiasm
that made everybody else want to pull up a chair and stay awhile. He had a gift for
turning everyday moments into memories worth keeping.

Those who knew Roosevelt will remember his humor, his easygoing nature, and the
way he could make people laugh without even trying too hard. He had that rare kind of
comedy that came from being real, from telling it like it is, and from finding the funny
side of life even when life was not always being funny back. He could lighten a mood,
warm a room, and remind people that a little laughter goes a long way. His presence
was larger than words can fully capture, and his absence will be felt deeply by all who
loved him.
