Sharon Alena White, affectionately known as Shay, passed away peacefully at her home in Rocky Point on January 3, 2026. She was born on December 20, 1973, in New Hanover County.
Shay was a beloved wife to Rodney Pridgen and mother to five children: Kendra White, Kira Pridgen, Rodney Pridgen Jr., Michael White, and Javon Pridgen. She was a loving daughter to her mother, Ivory McDuffie, and father, George White, a cherished sister to Melvin and Michelle McDuffie, and a dear niece to Aunt Pearl Crawley. Her extended family included three sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom felt the warmth of her generous spirit.
She was educated in the Pender County school system and pursued some college education. Shay was intelligent and well-respected in her community for her love for learning which was only matched by her passion for the arts. Shay's creative soul found expression in painting and drawing, bringing beauty to the world and joy to those around her.
Shay lived her faith through acts of kindness and service, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Shay's vibrant intelligence was evident not only in her academic pursuits but also in the wise and thoughtful way she navigated life's challenges..
Above all, Shay will be remembered as a loving and kind soul, a person who brought light and joy into the lives of all who knew her. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the memories of her loving spirit and the beauty she created will continue to inspire those left behind.
