Shirley Holland was born June 18, 1939, in Beckley, WV to Odessa and J. Richard Boyd.
Shirley was a woman who was loved by all who knew her. She was known in the community as the “The Flower Lady”, one who put her heart in every floral arrangement she made. She was a great Mother and seamstress who designed her daughter's clothes. In her early years, she was a girl scout leader to many young girls. Shirley was gifted with many creative talents, it seemed that everything she touched was made even more beautiful. She loved and served her church the Bell Fork Church of Christ for many years.
Her husband William, son Michael, sister Joan and brothers James and Samuel preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memories five daughters: Rita (Michael) Rankin of Kernersville, NC, Billie (Michael) Burden of Hubert, NC, Darling (Joseph) Stokes of Midland, Ga, Victoria (David) West of Pflugerville, TX, and Yedda (Albert) Ridenhour of White Plains, NY and one son Mitchell Todd Holland of Raleigh, NC. 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. One sister, Drema Marks of Beckley, WV, Two brothers, Luther C.(Dorthey) Boyd, and Wayne Boyd all from Baton Rouge, LA. A host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
