Warnell Dixon Obituary

Warnell Plummer Dixon was born on February 9, 1951, to the late Robert Plummer and Juanita James Plummer in Duplin County. She peacefully transitioned from labor to reward on Friday, April 2, 2021.

She received her education in the Duplin County public school system.

Warnell was united in holy matrimony to Melvin Dixon. This union was blessed with three sons, Melvin Jr., Sam and Edwin.

Warnell’s greatest love was her life’s work as a homemaker. She occasionally worked outside the home in the cafeteria at Chinquapin Elementary School as well as caring for the elderly in home health. Her love for her family was unconditional.

She served as a Minister at Adoram Baptist Church in Wallace, NC under the leadership of Pastor James Page. Warnell was a great missionary and served wherever she was needed…taking the elderly to the doctor, grocery store, or wherever they needed to go. She loved her church and served faithfully until her health declined. She also enjoyed shopping, going out to eat and talking with her friends on the phone. She was kindhearted, fun-loving and always encouraging. To know her was to love her. She will be greatly missed by all.

In addition to her parents, Warnell was also preceded in death by her siblings: Alice Mae Plummer, Joseph Plummer, Charlie Plummer and Macio Plummer.

Warnell leaves to cherish her priceless memories, her husband Melvin Dixon of the home, three sons: Melvin Dixon Jr. and wife Myrna of Dallas, Texas, Sam Dixon and wife Salina of Wallace, NC and Edwin Dixon and wife Crystal of Chinquapin, NC. Seven grandchildren, Joshua, Khadijah, Samuel Jr., Edwin Jr., Saquoia, Samaria and Samir. Seven great grandchildren. Two sisters: Silver Ann Pickett of Wallace and Elizabeth F. Plummer of Wallace. Three brothers, Robert Plummer and wife Mary Jane of Teachey, NC, Thurman Plummer of Raleigh, NC and Nelson Plummer of Wallace, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends
