William Thomas Jeffers "Tom"

William Thomas (Tom) Jeffers was born June 24, 1945 in Sampson County, North Carolina to the late Hubert Jeffers and Mattie Chavis Jeffers. He completed life’s journey peacefully at home surrounded by family on December 30, 2020. He was joined in holy matrimony to Linda Faye James on December 18, 1967. This union was blessed with three children: William, Jerry, and Pamela. He was Godfather to Marcus Carter, Sherry Berry, and Frankie Adams. Tom, as he was affectionately called, received his childhood education through Sampson County Public Schools. After graduation, he served in the United States Army as a Communications Specialist. After returning home, he worked as a Land Surveyor for over 40 years and retired from William Blanchard Land Surveyors in Wallace, North Carolina. Tom joined Little Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. Tom loved his family and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed playing Bid Whist, softball, fishing, horseshoes, and checkers. He especially made sure to pass his love of fishing on to his sons and grandsons. He was well respected within his community and would often collect bicycle parts so that he could repair and build bikes for the neighborhood kids. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Linda, and three siblings: Mattie Mae Jeffers, Theboyette Jeffers, and Milford Jeffers.

“Tom” leaves to cherish his precious memories: TWO SONS: William Davis Jeffers (Christy), Rose Hill, NC Jerry Jerome Jeffers, Wallace, NC .ONE DAUGHTER: Pamela Jeffers Gray, Wallace, NC. FIVE GRANDSONS: Hector Gray Herman Gray Darius Jeffers Nicholas Jeffers Tyrese Jeffers. TWO GRANDDAUGHTERS: Tyrina Gray Kia Jeffers ONE GREAT-GRANDSON Kaycen Thomas Jeffers TWO GREAT-GRANDDAUGHTERS: Jennise A. Jeffers, Tahmia V. English. ONE BROTHER: Alphonzo “Bread” Jeffers.
