Willie Mae Wiggins, age 94, passed from her earthly life on May 2, 2022, at Southport Health & Rehab. Center in Southport, North Carolina. Let us rejoice and be glad to know that she is resting in peace with the Lord. It is so comforting to know that “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”
Willie Mae was born July 25, 1927, in Duplin County, NC to the late Rob Thomas and Mary Elizabeth Stevens-Thomas-Boney. Willie Mae attended school in Duplin County. She was united in holy matrimony to Henry A. Wiggins, Sr. “Bud Jake”. The union had a togetherness of sincere love and happiness for many years. Out of this union, two children were born, Linda Joyce Wiggins and Henry A.Wiggins, Jr.
At an early age, Willie Mae accepted Jesus as her personal Savior and joined Adoram Baptist Church in Wallace, North Carolina. Willie Mae loved her church dearly and was a faithful member of the Choir for many years. Willie Mae loved her family, friends, Avon, red roses, thrift shopping, and the stockyard. She was loved by many. She loved decorating her home for the holidays and loved her flowers. She had no problem with taking a stroll around downtown Wallace.
She was an Award Winner and Seller of AVON for many years. She was a true entrepreneur, businesswoman, and owner of Wiggins Grill on Back street in Wallace, NC. We were so blessed to have her in our lives and her legacy will live on in our lives forever.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry A. Wiggins Sr., her daughter, Linda Joyce Wiggins, and grandson, Alex Kellem.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: One Son: Henry A. Wiggins Jr. (Mildred) of Teachey, NC One Daughter: Mary Ann Alexander (Charles) of Lithonia, GA Four Grandchildren: Christopher T. Jackson of Raleigh, NC, Zaheerah H. Jenkins (Marcus) of Kenansville, NC Henry T. Kellem (Dana) of CA Harrod J. Jackson of Durham, NC, Eleven Great-Grandchildren and Eight Great-Great-Grandchildren, Two Sisters: Gladys Lee Dollar and Cozette Thomas-Wells, Three Special Friends: Joyce Carlton, Mabelle Satchell, and Howard Boney. A Host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will miss her dearly.
