Glenn Edward Rochelle age 65 of Maple Hill, N.C. peacefully answered the call of our heavenly Father on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at his home. Glenn was born October 5, 1952 in Pender County to the late John Edward Rochelle and Margaret Rose Pickett Rochelle.
The funeral will be 1 pm on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Greater St. Paul Holy Church in Maple Hill, NC with Rev. Dr. Gloria Fields officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Communty Cemetery in Maple Hill, NC. Visitation will be on Friday, January 5, 2018 from 5 until 7 at Nixon Lewis Funeral Home in Burgaw, NC. The family will be present from 5 until 6.
Glenn was educated in the Pender County School system and in May of 1969 graduated from C.F. Pope High School in Burgaw, N.C. At an early age Glenn was taught the work ethic and he worked for Boomtown furniture company in Jacksonville, N.C. until deciding to move to Cleburne, Texas where he was employed by the City of Cleburne until he retired in January, 2015. Glenn accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age and joined Maple Hill A.M.E Church. During his stay in Cleburne, Glenn continued his relationship with Christ and joined Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorialship of Rev. Willie Stevenson.
Upon retiring Glenn decided there was no place like home and returned to Maple Hill. During his last days at home, Glenn enjoyed his cars, his red corvette, and his jeep. He also loved his garden ministry, he grew it and proudly gave it to his friends and neighbors. He especially enjoyed the time spent with his nephew Carlos and his sister Moon. The most rewarding of all was his work in his church, Maple Hill AME, as God had called him to become a good steward of the church..
Glenn's legacy of love and fond memories are left to: his son, Tyson Rochelle of Cleburne, Texas, two sisters; Ramona K. Rochelle, Maple Hill, NC, Lugenia Rochelle of Denmark, SC, Five Brothers; Orlando E. Rochelle of Torrance, CA, John A. Rochelle, wife Evelyn of Jacksonville, NC, Ricardo E. Rochelle and wife Marsha of Richmond, VA, William Melvin Rochelle and wife Diane of Greensboro, NC, Marion O. Rochelle of Jessup, MD.
A special nephew, Ricarlos M. Rochelle of Maple Hill, 17 additional nieces and nephews, 28 grand nieces and nephews, one uncle, Samuel Rochelle and wife Virginia of Burgaw, NC.
A cousin like a brother, Jimmy Lee Pickett and wife Jean of Texas. Other special cousins and friends, Nelson Rochelle, Texas, Shirley and Elijah Sharpless, Eli and Charlotte Holmes, Eddie McKoy, Sandy Shepard, Bernice Wooten and the remaining crew, his brother John Rochelle, James Huley Pickett, Ronnie Pickett, George Phillips, Carnell Moore and Kenneth Farrior.
Glenn was small in stature but big at heart and he will never be forgotten by those that knew and loved him.
